I was hired by the Durham County Library system to design their t-shirt for their 2016 summer reading program. The theme for the event in 2016 was sports and fitness, and one of the slogans for the program was “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!”
Above is the line art for the shirt. My intention was to evoke the feel of a kids’ book cover. I was thinking specifically of the work of Dr Seuss and PD Eastman when I laid out the art and text.
I was informed that the shirt would be screenprinted with five different colors of ink on one of three t-shirt colors. Here are just a few of the many color combos I sent along. Some were pretty out there!
